Promoting Strategic Learning by Postsecondary Students with Learning Disabilities – Deborah L. Butler
Butler describes a study focusing in the effectiveness of Strategic Content Learning (SCL), an intervention model aimed at promoting self-regulated and strategic learning. Six adults with learning disabilities attending post-secondary education programs were individually supported to develop a strategic approach to learning. Results showed students were strategic, improved their task performance, gained metacognitive knowledge, increased their perceptions of self-efficacy, and shifted attributional patterns. Implications for practice and research are discussed.
