In the News: Watchdog Slams BC Government for Trying to Offload Native Child Welfare

This article discusses a recently released report by BC’s Representative for Child and Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, that examined federal and provincial spending since 2001 on services for Aboriginal children and youth in BC. Among Turpel-Lafond’s findings was that over $66 million was spent on a series of “chaotic and haphazard” programs, with much of the money going to people who provided no service that directly benefited children and/or youth.
