In the News: Hundreds, if Not Thousands, of B.C. Kids Go to School Hungry

BC continues to have the highest rate of child and family poverty in Canada and large numbers of children and youth in BC (including in Metro Vancouver) arrive at school hungry. The responsibility for providing food for hungry students currently falls on school staff. This article’s author urges all BC residents to help address the problem and highlights the Adopt-A-School program, which through donations from individuals, private foundations, and corporations, has distributed over $1 million since 2011 to Metro Vancouver schools.
